Cyberentities... hmm... then aren't you suggesting that all of
us get off this list and "meet some real people?" * Smile! Oh,
about Facebook, stupid kaptcha! Joshua, it is accessible to the
BN. Since I don't have Facebook yet, you might want to refer to
our friend Josh Gregory for that.

I suspect you'll have problems with Facebook whatever
screen-reader you use. The developers keep changing things
because apparently the sighted suffer terminal brain damage if
they must look at the same thing for more than fifty nanoseconds!
Why not get out there and meet *real* people, not cyberentities?

Well, that's why everyone needs to join me.
I'm about to get rid of Jaws, anyway, because of a different
problem.
I'm wanting to experiment with HumanWare's products.
Facebook won't cooperate with Jaws.
Every time I try to create a page, the Jaws makes my computer
shut down.
I don't understand why.
I have Jaws 11.0.

very latest
version. But I can reproduce this problem on a machine running
version 9. I
can reproduce it on Windows XP, jaws version 9, and Windows XP
jaws version
12, and Windows 7 jaws version 12. I can reproduce the problem
on every
machine I've tried it on and have been able to do so for many
years.
To be quite honest, I think Freedom Scientific is jerking me
around. But I
thought I'd better make sure before i started thinking badly of
them.
First they asked for a more detailed explanation of the problem
which I
think is fairly clear to anyone who knows anything about
computers. Second,
they made me update my version even though my version was only a
couple of
weeks old and the problem has been around for years anyway. Now
they say
they can't reproduce it. Hmmm... I suppose its possible I've
done something
wrong when installing jaws all these years but I just set up a
Windows 7
machine a few weeks ago and haven't done anything to it yet but
installed
jaws. And it does the same thing. I mean, its practically a
fresh install of
Win7.

John, what version do you use?
If I were you, I'd talk to the freedom scientific guys, in
person.
They should be at convention, this year.
Are you going?

All,
I'm having a problem with my jaws screen reader. I submitted a
bug
report
but Freedom Scientific tells me they can't reproduce the bug.
My
experience has been that all version of jaws have had this
problem and
it
happens on every computer I've ever tried it on. So I was
hoping other
users of jaws could tell me if they can reproduce the problem.
The problem is that jaws can't read text in a full screen
command
window.
A command window is the way Microsoft Windows lets you ttype in
commands
sort of like the old days of DOS. If you use jaws I think you
may be
able
to reproduce my problem by doing the following:
1. Press Windows+r to open a run dialog box. Jaws should say
"Type the
name of a program etcetera" Type the word command and press
enter. That
should open a command window.
2. Press Alt+Enter to make the window full screen. At this
point, if you
type a command like dir or help, text will be displayed on the
screen
but
not spoken by jaws. Or at least that is what it does for me.
3. Put the window back to normal size by pressing Alt+Enter
again. Now
when you type a command, jaws will work correctly and read the
text that
is displayed.
