[NFB-Talk] Mask Mandates

Hi,

My husband and I did attend the convention and thoroughly enjoyed it. I do not begrudge anyone for taking a different path. I think our national office made the best plans with the information they had at the time. I am sure that will be the case next year too. COVID is just a part of our lives now, but that is not to say to ignore the precautions we have all learned to take for ourselves and our individual situations. . It surely does make life a little more complicated now.

I wish you all a great weekend.

Sorry to hear we had trouble with COVID cases at the convention, but I am not surprised. The up tick was not necessarily forseeable when plans were finalized.

I attended virtually, but mostly for financial reasons.

We were not alone, though, as I understand ACB had some COVID difficulties at their convention.

Good evening everyone,

Texas has really cracked down on mask mandates for about a year now. Here it’s recommended but strictly prohibited from being mandated. Of course the CDC could change that depending on infection rates. It should also be noted that since the mask mandate on public transportation was struck down a few months ago the number of disruptive airplane passenger complaints have also dropped. It wouldn’t surprise me if in everyone’s interest the NFB returned to a totally virtual convention next year depending on what is happening with COVID-19 and Monkey Pocks. JMO.

I also understand that to be true.

I also understand that in some of the sessions, there were a number of maskless individuals. It seems that our leadership provided a lot of warning to please wear masks at meetings.

They may not have realized the uptick in Covid cases when they had to finalize the hotel early on.

I predicted something like this would happen a long time ago. It’s one reason that I didn’t go this year as a person who is high risk Covid. I really think they should’ve waited on this at least another year…

Greetings,

I tested positive for Covid 19 today. On Sunday night in New Orleans, I noticed what I thought were the symptoms of a mother of a cold coming on. Yesterday and today I started feeling better, but someone told me there were quite a few people who ended up testing positive at the convention and encouraged me to get tested, which I did today. I am encouraging everybody on these lists who may feel even mild symptoms to please get tested and inform anybody you may have had close contact with since coming back if you do test positive. I hope everyone tests negative and anyone who tests positive I hope recovers quickly. Take care.
