[NFB-Talk] Prodigy voice

Hi, Mark.

I am also a type II diabetic.  I've used the Prodigy glucometer and
while it's great technology, it's also very old as far as glcometers are
concerned.  It requires much more blood than newer glucometers.  There
are some on the market that use Bluetooth and pair with your phone so
you can have VO or Talkback read the results.  Other than a CGM paired
with your phone, there's no talking glucometer that I know of.  If
someone knows of one I'd love to try it.

The two brands of CGMs also offer over the counter versions that you can
purchase without a prescription.  I was lucky enough to have a doctor go
to bat for me, so my insurance covers the Libre 3 Plus.  It is a time
saver for me, but more importantly, I get constant feedback about how
foods impact my blood sugar.  Every diabetic is different and not
everyone reacts the same way to carbohydrates and sugary foods.

The NFB has a list for diabetics.  You can read about it and subscribe
at Diabetes-Talk Info Page

Hope this helps.

Lisa
