Fellow Federationists and Friends of the NFB of Utah!

 

Please remember that election day will be on Tuesday, November 8. Each County has their rules for early voting and for polling locations. At this time, there are some counties providing an electronic ballot and all counties must have an electronic voting machine available at any polling location. so please check with your county clerk. Please let me know if you encounter any difficulties voting.

For Salt Lake County , County Clerk Sherry Swenson has provided the below information.

 

ADA Voting Assistance

Salt Lake County Election Division

The Salt Lake County Election Division will offer in-person voting at 42 Election Day Vote Centers and eight Early Voting Locations prior to Election Day. 

A voter may vote at any one of the vote centers during the hours listed below, and ADA amenities are available at every vote centers.  (Identification must be presented when voting in person.)

*	Election Day Vote Centers – November 8th (7:00 am – 8:00 pm) – a location list is available on the website at:   <https://slco.org/clerk/elections/voting-in-person/> https://slco.org/clerk/elections/voting-in-person/.
*	Early Voting at the Salt Lake County Government Center (2001 S State Street, South Building, first floor, atrium) weekdays Oct 25 – Nov 4 (8:00 am – 5:00 pm)

*	All vote centers have ADA voting machines
*	Voters with ADA needs may make an appointment if they wish, and a staff member will meet them and escort them to the voting area.

*	Early voting at Satellite Locations – Early voting will be available at an additional seven vote centers

       Nov 1 – Nov 4 (3:00 pm – 7:00 pm). A list of locations is available online at:

The electronic voting machines are equipped with an option for the following:

Magnify: This will increase the text size and is an option on the voting machine.

Light or Dark Background: This is an option on the touchscreen.

*	Audio:  An ATI unit allows the voter to hear the ballot and instructions.

 

IN-PERSON VOTING WITH AUDIO BALLOT

*	The voter will sign in at check-in where a signature guide is made available.
*	The Audio Tactile Interface (ATI) and headphones will be provided to the voter prior to starting the accessible voting session.
*	A poll worker will Insert an activated voter card (accessible session) into the ICX electronic voting machine. 
*	The poll worker will ask the voter their desired language and select their choice on the machine.
*	The poll worker will ask the voter if they would like the privacy mask. Choosing this option will make the entire screen appear black to protect the secrecy of the voter’s ballot. 
*	The poll worker will Inform the voter that when they are prompted to print the ballot at the end of voting, it is producing our auditable paper trail.  They will ask the voter to continue through the entire process until they are thanked for voting.
*	The poll worker will select the ATI option, the audio guidance will start, and the voter will hear instructions on how to use the ATI device.

 

This is the verbiage on the audio ballots - Instructions on how to use the ATI to navigate: 

Hold the device so the big, rectangular, green help button is oriented towards you.

Audio volume - Volume control buttons are located at the top left. To decrease volume, press white, square, concave button. To increase volume, press white, square, convex button.

Audio tempo - Tempo control buttons are located at the top right. To decrease tempo, press orange, round, concave button. To increase tempo, press orange, round, convex button.

Moving left/right - Left and right movement buttons are located on the left. To move left, press yellow, triangular button pointing left. To move right, press yellow, triangular button pointing right.

Moving up/down - Up and down movement buttons are located on the right. To move up, press blue, triangular button pointing up. To move down, press blue, triangular button pointing down.

Selection - Selection button is located in the middle. To select or deselect, press red, X shaped button.

Help button is located at the bottom. To access this help at any time, press the elongated, green rectangular button.

To close this message, press the red select button. To hear ATI help instructions again, press yellow left button or blue up button.
