NFB of Utah's Annual Convention to Take Place in 2023; Theme - "Find Your
Fit in the Movement!"

 

SALT LAKE CITY (April 19, 2023) – The National Federation of the Blind of
Utah, the largest organization of the blind in Utah, will hold its annual
convention Apr. 20-22 with a theme of "Find Your Fit in the Movement!" at
the Provo Marriott in Provo, Utah.

 

With Tyler Merren, a decorated four-time Paralympian and motivational
speaker as a special guest, the convention will celebrate the achievements
of the blind community and inspire inclusive change. Merren, who is a member
of the United States men's Olympic team in the goalball sport, will share
his successes and motivate attendees to achieve their goals.

 

The convention will also feature other notable guests, such as Utah Lt. Gov.
Deidre Henderson, Congressman John Curtis of Utah's 3rd district, and the
National Representative, Jessica Beecham, President, NFB of Colorado. These
individuals are expected to lend their support and demonstrate their
commitment to promoting inclusivity with blind individuals throughout Utah.

Through the convention, the NFB of Utah aims to raise awareness and promote
accessibility for blind individuals in Utah. 

 

“Blind people have the capacity to work and achieve great things, and
companies can make their products and websites more accessible by partnering
with organizations that understand how to test for and make things more
accessible,” Everette Bacon, president NFB of Utah.

 

With its purpose of helping blind people achieve self-confidence,
self-respect, and self-determination, the NFB of Utah is committed to the
complete integration of the blind into society on a basis of equality. 

 

“We strongly encourage companies to reach out to their organization to make
their products and services more accessible to the blind population,” said
Bacon. “With blind individuals who understand how to test for accessibility
and utilize equipment, companies can ensure their products are accessible to
all.”
