Hello NFB Of Utah family & Friends,
The Eclipse Soundscapes Project is a NASA Citizen Science Project that will study how eclipses affect life on Earth. Through a partnership with NFB, Eclipse Soundscapes was created with accessibility in mind and a special focus on the inclusion of people who are blind or low vision. It is the goal to create a project that invites members of the sighted, blind, and low vision communities to participate alongside one another. We will be collecting sensory observations and sound data from the October 14, 2023 annular eclipse, which will take place in Utah! We hope some of you will be interested in participating. You can learn more about the project from the Eclipse Soundscapes Project website <http://eclipsesoundscapes.org> . You can also learn about the project from accessible presentations on the Eclipse Soundscapes YouTube Playlist. <https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLa5fQT9Lgkd7F8dhlxkpe8dLJ1NbHShM7>
This Saturday, October 14 between 9:00 AM and Noon, the moon will be sliding across the sun in many parts of Utah. If you or someone you know are interested in participating in this project, Please click on the link below to choose which roles you would like to be a part of. Please note that the Data Collecting roles have already been assigned to 5 NFB Utah members. NFB of Utah was given only 5 data collecting kits. However, there are several other roles to choose from. Here is the link that describes each role:
