Below you said, reply privately because you can't see the From: 
address.  This is true if you look at headers.  With some mail 
programs, if  you do a reply, or a reply-all to a message, the 
original from: address of the originator is put in the to field, in 
addition to the list address.  You can then cut it out.  Experiment.
