[Nfb-web] Purpose of the List

Hello Gabe and everyone,

Amen!!!!!! And generate some employment opportunities for blind
Webmasters. As others here have pointed out after a while volunteering is
good but it gets old particularly when you must include components that
involve lots of work. Adding audio and video content to Websites is another
example. I did much of this work free when I should have been paid better
for my services. Let me remind folks that a number of affiliates paid me for
their work. That is very much appreciated. However there are others that
weren't so accommodating. If an affiliate wants a Website or have an
existing Website upgraded They should budget for compensation for the
Webmaster. I thought this organization was about creating job opportunities
for blind persons not looking for something for nothing

If budgets are an issue what about empowering members to be in a
position to contribute to such projects. There are many opportunities people
can take advantage of to create additional income so they can among other
things contribute to funding the work of the federation in a big way. As
Gabe said it's a case of "You get what you pay for." If all NFB Webmasters
were paid regularly for their services it would result in the organization
having many first class Websites.

I have a great idea! Pay for your websites and you will get professional
websites. :-)

context, the essence of good design involves ensuring that a text
alternative exists for every non-text element on the web page, tables are
properly used so that screen-readers may parse them properly and contrasting
colors are available for use by low-vision visitors. It is perfectly
possible to produce an attractive, dynamic design that is fully accessible.
Websites that are designed intelligently benefit everyone - not only people
with disabilities.

sighted relative of a newly -blind person, or one who is going blind, will
visit our NFB websites. It is important to provide a clean visual interface
for these visitors so they will feel comfortable in continuing, with a
feeling that the organization is indeed professional and worthy of further
study. This list is moderated by Gary Wunder.
