Greetings Fellow Federationist,

I received a call this morning from Mrs. Patricia Mauer from the NFB
National Office on the incidentals fee.

This was how she explained it. When you check in the resort will put a
hold on your card for the incidental fee but your card will not be charged
at that time for your total room stay When you checkout your last day, If
at that time you have not incurred any extra fees to your room (for
example, room service, eating from the hotel stocked refrigerator, ordered
movies etc.) then the $400 will be included in your total amount of your
bill at checkout.

She assured me that it doesn’t mean they are going to take an extra $400.00
off your card on top of your total reservation for reserved room nights.
She says this is to ensure that anyone who leaves the hotel without
checking out or caused damage or smokes in the non smoking rooms, etc. they
are covered for those charges. If you exceed the $400.00 upon checkout you
will be charged for any extra incurred charges.

What she didn't clarify is whether the person that checks in first with
their card will incur the total or if everyone presenting their card will
have the fee or if the fee can be shared among roommates.

If you have further questions please email them to me and I will forward
them to the national office.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
