Welcome to the National Federation of the Blind of Phoenix. We are happy to
have you as part of our community of blind people and those who love them.

lives of the blind.

2024 Phoenix Committees and Chairpersons.

Committees are open to all members and welcome your participation. Jordan
Moon appoints the Chair of each committee, and they may change from year to
year.

Membership Committee

This committee maintains the membership roster. Contacts past and present
members as well as provides information and support to potential members.

Social and Outreach Committee

This committee plans and organizes the outreach and social events held each
year. the main social events are the Holiday party in December and our
annual picnic typically in the spring. They may also determine where we will
go for meals after chapter business meetings.

The committee will also assist in research and organize opportunities for
the chapter to give back to the community through volunteerism  and to
educate the public on the true abilities of blind people. They plan the
activities of Blind Equity Achievement Month (BEAM) held during October.

Technology Committee

business meeting.

Communication Tools-Email List Servs

Email list servs remain an important resource for announcements and other
communication at the chapter, affiliate, and national levels. You can sign
up for any and all list servs that you have an interest in. Some groups are
reserved only for those paid to be part of them and others are very active
discussion groups open to anyone. Visit www.nfbnet.org

Instructions to subscribe to list servs

The URL will be slightly different for each email list serv but the
instructions to subscribe are the same. The link included in this section
will sign you up for the Phoenix chapter list serv. For signing up to other
email list servs go to www.nfbnet.org <http://www.nfbnet.org> . 

1.	open internet browser and go to

2.	Complete the Subscribe section. Ignore all other sections on this
webpage. In the subscribe section the form requires an email address. It
does not require your name, but I always include this information when
subscribing. It will ask you to create an optional password. You can choose
your own or leave blank as I always do. Next it will want to know your
preferred language. The form defaults to English. The last question asks if
you want the emails sent as a batch. If choosing yes, then emails will
arrive once a day all at one time. If choosing no (default), emails will
arrive in your inbox when they are actually sent by the list member. The
Phoenix list does not send large amounts of emails so going with the default
option of no is a great choice.

3.	Select subscribe button.

4.	Go to your email inbox and reply to the test email sent by the list
moderator. This important step is easy and critical. Just open the email,
hit reply, and then without writing a note of any kind hit send. Failing to
complete this step will mean that the subscription is incomplete, and you
will not receive list announcements. People often forget this critical step
and wonder why they are not getting announcement emails.
