I would like to urge [SENATOR/REPRESENTATIVE NAME] to cosponsor the Access Technology Affordability Act, S. 212/H.R. 431. This legislation removes an employment barrier commonly experienced by blind Americans who cannot afford the high cost of access technology by creating a refundable tax credit in the amount of $2,000 to offset the cost of this technology.

Subject: [Nfbnet-members-list] Legislative Alert - March 7, 2022

Dear Federation Family:

We did an excellent job building cosponsor support for all of our bills during Washington Seminar. The purpose of this legislative alert is to focus on the Access Technology Affordability Act. We are now up to 145 cosponsors in the House and 36 in the Senate. This is more cosponsors than in any previous Congress.

The more cosponsors we have the more likely it will be included in an upcoming legislative package. So, if your Representative has not cosponsored H.R. 431, or one or both of your Senators has not yet cosponsored S. 212, please email or call them and urge them to do so. The House and Senate are both in session this week, so if all possible, please try to contact your Representative or Senators by Friday, March 11.

When you call or email, you might say the following:

"Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME], and I am a constituent of [SENATOR/REPRESENTATIVE NAME]. I live in [CITY, STATE].
Thanks."

A current list of Senate and House cosponsors is below. You can contact your member of Congress by calling the Capitol Switchboard and asking for the office in question. The number is 202-224-3121. We have also attached contact lists for Senate and House offices to this email, but if you have any questions on office contacts, please contact Jesa Medders at jmedders at nfb.org<mailto:jmedders at nfb.org>. If you contact your senators and representative via email, please copy Jeff Kaloc at jkaloc at nfb.org<mailto:jkaloc at nfb.org>. Your calls and emails do make a difference.

Thank you for all that you do,
John
