[NFBA-Tucson] YOU'RE INVITED: October BEAM activities for the Tucson Chapter!

Dear Members and Tucson Community (and anyone who wants to come down to Tucson to participate!!),

As we head into October, we are excited to highlight a series of events in honor of Blindness Equality and Achievement Month (BEAM). We invite you, your friends, family, and neighbors to participate, connect, and celebrate with us throughout the month!

1. Accessible Voting Machine Demonstration
   Date: October 4
   Time: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
   Location: Saavi Services for the Blind, 3350 E Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85716
   Join us to test out an accessible voting machine and connect with voting officials. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the voting process and ensure that everyone has access to their voting rights. 2. Tucson Chapter Meeting & Tucson Meet Yourself
   Date: October 5
   Time: 1:00 PM - into the evening
   Location: Saavi Services for the Blind   3350 E Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85716 and Downtown Tucson
   Following our chapter meeting, we will head downtown to participate in the Tucson Meet Yourself event. This is a wonderful chance for fellowship in the community while handing out literature and sharing our mission. To learn more about Tucson Meet Yourself, visit https://tucsonmeetyourself.org/

3. White Cane Awareness Day Picnic
   Date: October 15
   Time: 11:00 AM - 2:00PM
   Location: Reid Park Ramada #1
NOTE: Ramada #1 is north of the pond and  Rose Garden near a playground, covered parking and a bathroom.  The nearest parking lot address is: S Concert Pl, Tucson, AZ 85713 entrance to this parking lot is on Country Club Rd.
   You are invited to join the National Federation of the Blind of Arizona Tucson Chapter to celebrate White Cane Awareness Day. Bring your family, friends, and coworkers to honor the symbol of independence and empowerment that the white cane represents. Enjoy food, meet community leaders, and learn more about the white cane. Drop-ins are welcome, but please let us know if you plan to join us so we have enough food! 4. White Cane Day Virtual Walk-a-thon
   Date: October 15
   Time: All day
   Location: Anywhere!  Note: A group will be walking the Reid Park path prior to the picnic, everyone is welcome to join them!
   This virtual walk-a-thon fundraiser is to raise awareness of the abilities of blind people and encourage everyone to get out and about. More information will come in a separate email. 5. Cyclovia Event
   Date: October 27
   Time: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
    Location: TBA
   In partnership with Saavi, we will be volunteering to direct traffic at a specific intersection along the event trail. More details will be provided as we get closer to the date. To learn more about Cyclovia visit https://www.cycloviatucson.org/
