Here are instructions on how to update NVDA.

Under normal circumstances, , NVDA will automatically check for updates 
each time it's loaded.

Sometimes they wil push out patches or small fixes that you may have to 
check for. Here is how to do this.

1. Once NVDA is loaded, press Insert N to open the NVDA menu.

2. Press the letter H and then press the up arrow twice to get to the 
check for updates option. Once you press the letter H this will open 
the help menu. Press enter to check for updates.

Several things will happen at this point. If you have the latest 
version of NVDA then the program will respond:
"You already have the latest version of NVDA."

However if there is an update then it will beep and ask if you want to 
download the new version. Press enter to download the new version.

You will hear a series of beeps to let you know the program is being 
downloaded. The tones will start from low to high.

After this is done then NVDA will turn itself off and you wil hear a 
musical tone. This is the same tone that you here when doing an install 
for the first time.

After the tone is played you will here a series of beeps that let you 
know the update is being instaled. NVDA will say:
"Please wait while the update is being installed."

Once this has completed, then NVDA will turn itself off and then turn 
back on again. You will then hear the familiar greeting message:
"NVDA is ready."
