Fellow Federationists,
As many of you have been hearing, California has significant budget issues. The State Legislature has been called into special session to discuss a series of budget cuts and new taxes the Governor has proposed. On the cuts side, the blind community has been threatened by cuts to programs such as SSI, Medi-Cal, and IHSS that will dramatically impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of blind Californians. Attached is a brief explanation of a few of the most dangerous cuts. We are calling upon you to reach out to your State Senator and Assemblyman immediately. Hearings to discuss these cuts will commence on Friday 11/14, and the Federation must act today. The information below is designed to provide you background knowledge of the issues and the NFBC's official stance. To contact your Legislators, go to:
