There are other methods for addressing this issue than gathering petition 
signatures. A petition carries virtually no legal wait and has little if any 
standing when dealing with a private corporation. Perhaps a letter drafted 
to the company by an attorney on behalf of the California Association of 
Blind Students and the NFBC as a whole would work better. The only real 
value that this petition will have is to make those who sign it feel better.

Dear affiliate and chapter presidents:

            I am writing on behalf of the California association of Blind 
students as chairmen of the CABS social networking committee. We are acting 
in accordance with the California Affiliate's resolution 2008-02 regarding 
the accessibility of social networking sites.

            Attached is a petition to the owners of Myspace.com to work with 
the NFB to improve the accessibility of their web site to users of screen 
reading software. Please print out the petition and the accompanying sign-up 
sheet and collect signatures from chapter members and other interested 
parties. Once you have collected as many signatures as you can, please mail 
the petition  and sign-up sheet(s) to:
