Hi all here's what I sent out. Feel free to use it by taking my and Terra's
names out and inserting yours or
if you want to promote us why not leave it as is and send everywhere!
Whozit will be very happy to use the money donated I'm sure.
And blind people will be even happier learning to read braille--in Fact
Terra My beloved, is just getting ready to learn grade two--she should have
been taught in elementary school but the powers that were decided her sight
was to good--only problem Terra has Glacoma and her site has deteriorated
now what.
Whozit and the walkers who will participate and many others here on list can
give you the answer.
Here's the email and as I said before use it as you will to promote the walk
for braille literacy!
Mike
Hi everyone. this is a one time request. Terra and I will be
walking to increase Braille literacy on October 22 and will walk across the
golden Gate Bridge.
Although the form has some set amounts that are suggested you can check the
"Other box and enter whatever amount you like.
Currently only about 10% of all blind people can read Braille. This is a
marked decline from the 1950's when about 65% did. The reason this matters
is when blind people decide to go to work reading matters. It has been
proven that the majority of blind people who find employment and or remain
employed can read.
85% of the blind now are unemployed. If they are to find and maintain work
literacy is very important.
In addition the ability to read makes a lot of other parts of life much
easier like writing reminder notes, taking a telephone number when someone
calls, making a shopping list, or teaching a class. Think of what your life
might be like if you couldn't read.
If you want to sponsor me, Michael Peterson or my wife Terra Peterson justGo
to the website listed below,Than select our name in the drop down box when
the form asks you who you want to sponsor.
the flier says:
" Whozit will meet his friends at the Golden Gate Bridge and
> walk the bridge to bring the message of Braille literacy to the San
> Francisco Bay Area. This event will mark the beginning of the
> California state convention.
