Greetings!

We just wanted to let you know of three more exciting opportunities
that crossed our radar recently, all with deadlines coming up fast.

First and foremost, The White House is accepting applications for
their Fall internship program. This exciting opportunity provides
selected interns with a hands-on program, designed to mentor and
cultivate young leaders, and provides them with a unique opportunity
to gain valuable professional experience and build leadership skills.
For more information, go to:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/about/internships/

Another exciting opportunity with a fast-coming deadline is the HSC
Foundation's Advocates in Disability Award. This award is presented to
an individual with a disability between the ages of 14 and 26 who "has
dedicated himself/herself to positively affecting the lives of
individuals with disabilities and their families in the Washington, DC
metropolitan area." Now this does mean that the award is only open to
those in the DC area, but if you're eligible, this could be an amazing
opportunity for you.

Finally, we wanted to let you know about the John Hudson Summer
Internship program, which provides internships in five categories to
students or recent graduates with disabilities. These categories are:
Emergency Management<http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dfs/dspd/pdf/em.doc>,
Accounting<http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dfs/dspd/pdf/dof.doc>,
Interpretive Aide<http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dfs/dspd/pdf/parks.doc>,
Policy Research &
Implementation<http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dfs/dspd/pdf/opeh.doc>,
and Therapeutic
Recreation<http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dfs/dspd/pdf/tr.doc> (If
unable to use these links, see attached Internship Info file for
descriptions). For more information on the internship and eligibility
rules, please check out the attached John Hudson FAQ document.

Remember also that the deadlines for the Career Opportunities for
Students with Disabilities (COSD) FULL ACCESS Summit - taking place in
San Jose, CA on April 8th and 9th, 2011 - and the Producers Guild of
America Diversity workshop, discussed in our previous newsletter, are
coming up soon, so get your applications in as soon as you can.

Building on the success of last summer ODEP's Lights! Camera! Access!,
hosted by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' Diversity
Committee and subsequent "What Can WE Do?," hosted by NBC Universal,
if you are interested in entertainment or broadcast industry
internships, contact networks, studios and industry associations (you
can locate them on the Internet). Some industry web sites are still
undergoing accessibility reformatting, so we suggest you also send an
e-mail or call in the event you are unable to access the website using
assistive technology.

Continuing to wish you good luck in your applications to internships
and employment opportunities across a variety of industry sectors.
