Hello everyone,
The assembly budget committee's subcommittee 2 which deals
with education will be meeting this Tuesday, 3/10 from 9 AM to noon. The
first item on the agenda will be item 6110 which will deal with the proposed
cuts to the state special schools, including the California school for the
blind. For those who may not know, the state special schools were cut by
$1.5 million last year. The budget currently being considered would include
an additional $1.8 million in cuts. The special schools are already
operating on a very tight budget. Additional cuts would be detrimental.
We encourage everyone who can to attend the Assembly Subcommittee hearing.
Also, below is a list of assembly members who are on this sub-committee. we
urge all of you to email the attached letter to everyone on this list. If
your Assembly member is on this list, we encourage you to call them, let
them know that you are a constituent and that you oppose these cuts.
