The Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) requires
California to update the Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP).   

This update has been underway in some form throughout the last year.  The
Caltrans SHSP Update Team and SHSP contractors have presented updates to
groups throughout the state of California.  Caltrans and contractors have
presented six SHSP webinars, and hosted two Safety Summits.  These outreach
efforts have reached over 600 distinct stakeholder groups and organizations.
Each public outreach effort has included an effort to request and document
questions and comments from SHSP stakeholders, including governments,
agencies, the private sector, advocacy groups, and the general public.   

This effort has now produced a draft California Strategic Highway Safety
Plan 2015. The Caltrans SHSP Update Team invites you to download the draft
plan at

The comment period will be open until COB, February 25, 2015.  This document
may, on request, be made available in alternative formats.
