[Nfbc-info] Procedure

I'm trying to work on getting my neighbor to help me if she can find someone
to take care of her kids after scol I told her I would pay for a daycare
service if the school has one there. That would be the best work around. I
would hate to have Sarah tell the center that we will sue them if they don't
do the procedure. The crazy thing abou about this is that 2 weks agao, when
they asked me about transportation, someone else there told me that pera
transit would be fine. Then some other person (a mamager) said that pera
transit wasn't acceptable. They told me they want a name & number of someone
before they will even consider the procedure. I still think this is a bunch
of hogwash. I explained to them that pera transit drops me off @ my door & I
would be safe with them. It seems to me that these surgery centers are
afraid of their own shadow.

I doubt they would call the authorities as it might backfire on them. Having
someone with you on the paratransit might be a good work around to keep them
happy. I doubt that straight Medicare would reject a claim under these
grounds as the scenarios I mentioned came up more with managed care
providers.

Do you think they would go so far as to call the authorities? If so, what
could they do. My guess is probably nothing. If I had someone with me, who
would be on the pera transit van with me going home, do you think the
surgery center be more agrreable to this?

conceivably if they wanted to be jerks about it they could say that you left
AMA (against medical advice) and notify your provider and the provider could
opt not to pay for the procedure and it could raise questions about your
treatment in the future. I can't say that they would definitely do this but
I am aware of situations where hospitals or clinics have done this.

When Access comes to get me, & if the surgery center doesn't let me board
their vihicle, what could they do in that situation?

Hi Rob,
I think you should just let them know that you have your own transportation
covered. No need to explain anything else to them. Remember the old
"Dragnet" TV show line "just the facts Sir".

Warmly, Joy

Good evening all: Tomorrow afternoon I am having an eppadurral done @ a
surgery center here in Victorville. When they asked me if someone will be
driving me home, I told them that I would be using pera transit. They told
me that since pera transit is not a medical transport system, they won’t
allow that. The center is 2 miles away, & a taxi costs $20 to go 2 miles. Is
there anyway around this issue?
