Hi Jordan,

First props to you for finding a way to live the life that you choose
blindness is not what holds you back go girl! Next, if you were flying out
of Limburg international here in San Diego two of our chapter members are
planning on going to the convention one of them has been to the convention
numerous times I can put you in touch with her and perhaps the two you can
work out your flight schedules. We have a second member going I don't know
that he's flown before and maybe not flown as a blind person and he is not
going to a convention The last bit of this message will address your
questions about identifying your suitcase it is commendable that you are
taking responsibility for trying to find a way to locate your suitcase.
First consider finding a way to make your suitcase stand out here a couple
of for instance is The chapter member who is an experienced flyer and has
attended many conferences marks her suitcase with silver duct tape she puts
a giant letter a because that is the first letter of her name her suitcase
definitely stands out Indy Cember I flew to visit family. I used sparkly
ribbon tied to the handle of my suitcase my suitcase stood out I'm going to
leave that ribbon on the suitcase it's Christmas ribbon yes if I fly anytime
this year my suitcase will for sure stand out quite some time ago I knew of
an individual or used one of those key clappers you know the gadget that
helps you to find your lost keys. I don't know if such a gadget would work
these days perhaps someone can respond to that.

Here are two ways that I'm familiar with as it relates to finding my
suitcase at baggage claim first when you fly and you checking your suitcase
you will be given a baggage claim ticket hang onto that ticket do not lose
it on the other hand, it is been my experience probably half of the time
that there is no one from the airport at baggage claim to check your ticket
this is a sad fact on the other hand you may request an airport attendant to
accompany you to the baggage claim area you will wait a while for your
suitcase to come on a conveyor belt you can ask the airport attendant to
grab your suitcase for you it will be up to you to describe your suitcase to
the individual there are occasions when I don't wait for an airport
attendant to accompany me to the baggage claim area that is because there
are long delays sometimes particularly when I fly into San Diego it's a
smaller airport compared to some that I fly into and it's easy to get to
baggage claim at that point I asked bystanders to help me find my suitcase
people are generally pretty helpful in the airport.

Jordan, again, props to you for not letting your blindness stand in the way
of living the life you choose also props to you for reaching out and asking
your Federation family for help go girl!
