All:

This is good information, thank you.

I do have a question/concern about the American Jobs Career Center in my neighborhood. Yes, they do receive W. E.T. and W.I.O.A. funds. However, instructors use Prezzi for their workshops. This program visually looks great from what others say. However, the program isn't compatible with JAWS. Also, I have made multiple attempts to talk to the AJCC Manager about the one computer that has JAWS 10 on it. I've solved part of my problem by using my computer at home. However, the AJCC offers resources and assessments that aren't allowed to leave the Resource Room.... The manager hasn't responded to my emails. I don't know what to do. Ever Lee and others, suggestions are welcome.

Thank you.

From,
Lisa Irving

In today’s rapidly changing economy, helping VR consumers make a good career decision is more challenging and important than ever. A fundamental key to success is access to relevant, understandable information. VR counselors need a resource that can help an individual gain or advance in employment consistent with his or her strengths, resources, concerns, abilities, capabilities, interests, and informed choice.
The Career Index Plus is that resource.
The Career Index Plus, in partnership with The Workforce Innovation Technical Assistance Center (WINTAC), recently offered a four-part training series. This training series, now available on WINTAC.org, is a free resource that all State Vocational Rehabilitation Agencies (SVRAs) can use during the assessment, career exploration, planning, and counseling processes.
The Career Index Plus is a comprehensive, online career information system that includes data from all 50 state Labor Market Information divisions, plus the Bureau of Labor Statistics, O*NET OnLine, Career InfoNet, the U.S. Department of Labor, Indeed®, and more. Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Counselors can also invite clients to use The Career Index Plus, track progress, and print reports.
To access the training(s), go to http://www.wintac.org/training/recorded-training. If you are a first-time visitor to the WINTAC site, you will need to register. Remember your user name and password to link to subsequent trainings, as you’ll only have to register once. The available Career Index Plus trainings include the following:
1. Navigating and Utilizing a Comprehensive Online Labor Market Information System 2. Getting Started with Labor Market Information (produced in collaboration with the Job Driven Vocational Rehabilitation Technical Assistance Center (JDVRTAC) 3. Enhancing the Counselor/Client Relationship Through the Development and Use of Client Profiles 4. Advanced Uses for Counselors and Clients in the Workforce Development System

Once you’ve registered on the site, select the link to the desired recorded training.

For more information about The Career Index Plus and what it can do for you, contact Jennifer Clayton at jennifer.clayton at thecareerindex.com.

For technical issues or questions about accessing the training, contact the WINTAC IT team at wintac-it at wintac.org.
