Important note to all chapters:  The state convention of the NFB of
California represents an annual opportunity for federationists and other
interested people throughout our state to assemble.  The NFBCA convention
features substantive blindness related programming, deliberations on state
and local policy matters, administration of internal organizational
business, and special exhibits of interest to members. The state convention
allows members from local chapters across the state to get together, reunion
style, to renew old acquaintances, and meet new friends.  There will be a
mix of formal and casual events to be enjoyed by all attendees.   You can be
sure that attending the 2018 NFBCA state convention promises to be the
highlight of the year.  Looking forward to meeting with you.

National Federation of the Blind of California Scholarships 

 

Each year, the National Federation of the Blind of California awards
scholarships based on academic excellence.  Scholarship applications and
instructions are available from our website at www.nfbcal.org
<http://www.nfbcal.org> .  The deadline for application is Saturday,
September 15, 2018.

The San Diego Chapter will meet August 11th, 11:30-1:30 p.m. at the Metro
Villa Apartments Community Room, 4071 39th Street, San Diego 92105.  A Game
Day will follow 1:30 pm to 4:30 p.m.       Bring your favorite Braille

The Escondido Chapter is having a fund raiser on August 11.  They will be
participating in the Summerfest Celebration at Braille Institute San Diego,
4555 Executive Drive.  The fund raiser will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Braille Institute is asking all guests to RSVP by calling 858.452.1111.
Please stop by, hear from them on how the NFB has changed their lives for
the better and support them by purchasing a Popsicle.

The Shasta Cascade Chapter is having a fun filled pot luck barbecue with the
families from the BELL Academy. It will be held on August 11, time is 2p.m.,
at the home of Karen Steel's.  If anyone wishes to join us for great food

The Pathfinder chapter of Los Angeles is extending an invitation for you to
join them at their 4th annual END of SUMMER BARBECUE and fellowship.  The
barbecue will be held on   Saturday, August 25, 2018, noon to 4 p.m.  At
Eucalyptus Park, 12100 Inglewood Ave., Hawthorne, 90250, Cross Street is
121st St.  Donation:  $15.  They are also holding and auction of assorted

The California Association of Blind Students (CABS) is excited and proud to
announce our first ever Northern California fall reception in beautiful San
Francisco at the Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, located at
1155 Market St. San Francisco, CA 94103.  The reception will be held on
Saturday, September 1st, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and they would love
for you to join them and invite your friends.  There will be food, music,
raffle prizes, 50/50 raffle, and other surprises!  They will also have time
to talk about what CABS is all about and how they can be a resource for
students to help them be successful, as well as different speakers to talk
about NFB philosophy.  They hope you can join them!
