Hello California Federation family,

As you may have heard at our National board meeting earlier this week, the
PAC Plan has two new exciting things going on and we encourage you to join
the PAC Plan.

A new and fully accessible online form is now available for you to start a
new PAC Plan or to increase your existing contribution. The new online PAC
form is located at www.nfb.org/pac <http://www.nfb.org/pac> .

Also, we have set up a voicemail box at the National Office where you will
be able to call and leave a request that someone call you back. That number
is 877 632-2722 or 877 NFB-2PAC.  

TRADITIONAL CONTESTS
We'll be running our traditional contests: the PAC Rat for the affiliate
with the greatest amount of PAC activity during Convention; the PAC Mule for
the national division with the most activity; and the PACHYDERM for the
affiliate with the greatest percentage increase in its monthly contribution.
Winners will be announced at the Banquet.

Also, we will conduct the usual drawings in two different categories: first,
for all those individuals who start a new PAC pledge at the Convention and
second, for all those who raise their pledge during the Convention. The
drawing will be for a $250 gift card. Winners will be announced at the
Banquet.

PAC SWAG
It has become our custom to offer incentives for folks to get back to the
PAC table.  We would announce that for the XX numbers of individuals who
visit the PAC table, you will receive some swag from our affiliates and
chapters. For that, we have relied on all of you to bring us swag like
Louisiana spices, Kona coffee, Hawaii macadamia nuts, Nebraska popcorn
balls, Iowa scissors, and the like. Well, that would be extremely hard to
pull off this year.  It will also be difficult to determine who will be
getting to the virtual PAC table first, second, third, and so on. So, what
we are going to do is collect up all the names of folks who conduct PAC
activity during a specific session and conduct a drawing from those names
and give out prizes accordingly.  

WHAT IS THE PAC PLAN?
The Pre-Authorized Contribution (PAC) Plan is a national program where
individuals or organizations can pre-approve a certain amount of funds to be
transferred from their bank account into the National Federation of the
Blind's general account. The minimum amount is $5 a month ($0.17 a day) and
there is no upper limit.

The PAC Plan helps with:
Distributing free literature
Funding the Free White Cane program
Funding the Free Slate and Stylus program
Funding legal battles
Assisting national scholarship programs
Funding the Braille Enrichment for Literacy and Learning (BELL) Academy
program
Fund STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs
Providing free web hosting for state affiliates through NFBNet
