Position Opening: Braille Instructor

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Client Services, the Braille Instructor develops and implements individualized programs of instructin in Braille consistent with the mission of Community Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CCBVI).

Duties and Responsibilities

Assess client needs and develop plans for addressing needs consistent with client abilities, objectives and goals.
Implement plans of individualized instruction.
Teach remotely via video platform on Zoom, Teams, FaceTime, Google Duo, etc.
Teach remotely over the phone.
Come up with creative ideas to maintain client engagement with braille assignments remotely.
Contact face-to-face training when CCBVI resumes onsite instruction.
Evaluate client progress, maintain comprehensive record, and prepare required reports in a timely fashion.
Make recommendations for client's continued progress.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other agencies working on behalf of client.
Cooperate and consult with CCBVI staff, professional disciplines, appropriate community resources, volunteers, and signficant others who work professionally on behalf of client,
Consult with supervisor to obtain approval for program expenditures.
Keep abreast of technological and educational developments in the field.
Keep abreast of agency and ancillary programs.
Adhere to agency policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Attend and participate in staff meetings.
Assist with any task deemed necessary to the operation of CCBVI as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree
Knowledge of Unified English Braille (UEB)
Minimum of three (3) years' experience teaching Braille
Ability to represent CCBVI in a professional manner and communicate effectively with diverse populations
Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic first aid
Ability to pass drug and alcohol screenings and fingerprint and background checks
