> Sunday, September 26, 2021
> 3606 Boundary Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90032
> Rose Hill Park Parking Lot
>
>
> Explore another section of Ernest E. Debs Regional Park in Montecito Heights, near Highland Park with Hearts For sight and Sierra Club Angeles Chapter. It's a quiet refuge in the middle of the city. The route has a mix of the wild and the tame: trails, dirt roads, and pavement. It's mostly level, with a couple of steep hills. We'll enter Debs Park from the adjoining Rose Hill Park, which offers better access.
>
> The full trip will be about 3 miles round trip, with 500 feet of gain. For those who came here before, this will be an easier route than we did in 2020.
>
> Meet at 8:30 AM at Rose Hill Park, 3606 Boundary Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90032. We plan to be back at 12:30 PM, so it's safe to ask for Access pickups at 1:00 PM. In case of rain or fire danger, we will cancel.
> Wear comfortable shoes, layers of clothing because it could be hot or cold or both, and a hat, with a day pack big enough to carry everything. Loaner equipment available; just ask.
>
> Bring at least one liter of water, along with snacks and lunch. Only guide and service dogs allowed. Bring any medications you may need during a day hike, including inhalers and injectors.
>
> HFS and Sierra Club continue to adhere to all public safety protocols during these times, so ADVANCE RSVP IS A MUST. We are limiting our hiking group to 30, including both blind / visually impaired participants and sighted guides. First come, first serve. We are also encouraging folks to bring their own sighted guide for now or someone from the same household. If you don’t need one or if you don’t have one, please let us know ahead of time so we can make arrangements for a guide for you. If you have been tested positive for COVID-19 or awaiting your results from the test, please just stay home. You also must wear a mask and have hand sanitizer or alcohol. Be aware that there may be a mix of vaccinated and unvaccinated participants.
> SIGHTED GUIDES NEEDED. As interest in our hikes for the Visually Impaired continues to increase, so has our need for sighted guides. Please spread the word so that every VIP gets their own guide. No experience necessary. Just be willing to help and we will teach you everything you need to know.
>
> This hike is cosponsored by Hearts For Sight and the Sierra Club/Central Group. Participants must have signed liability waivers for both organizations. If this is your first time joining HFS activities / events, please read, sign, and bring this release of liability form. You may also access the audio version of the HFS waver form.
>
> For each hike, please complete the SC waiver and access the audio version of the SC waver here.
>
> If you are interested in volunteering as a sighted guide or to RSVP, please be sure to contact Racquel Decipeda via email hearts4sight at gmail.com or call 818-457-1482
