Hi Nancy,
Thank you for sending this to me. For some reason I didn't receive the initial email and it didn't go to my junk either. As far as Jocelyn, I will be getting her an outfit and some shoes. For Brianna, below is a link to where the Kylie Jenner cosmetics are sold. They are a bit pricey.

I don't know if we want to pitch in to get her one of the holiday boxes or if we each want to buy her something individually.

Hi Juanita,
Below is the email with additional information about Jocelyn that
Racquel sent out on Saturday.
I hope this helps.

Nancy

Hello all,

I want to introduce to you our chosen adopted child this year, 2016.
The committee had reviewed the applications we received and had
decided that our chapter is going to adopt Jocelyn Riddle-Serrano.
Maria Acosta from Braille Institute is the one that referred this
candidate to us. Here is the information we gathered about Jocelyn’s
Christmas wish list:

Jocelyn’s mother, Brianna, said that the child needs clothes. And as
far as toys, she would like to have the Harry Potter wand collections.
Here is some information we gather:

Clothes size 12 in girls and her favorite color is gold

Shoe size is 3 ½ in children

The Harry Potter wand collections can be bought from
Barnes & Noble in Burbank

Maria provided me a link for this wand collections and it costs
$159.00 with six wands from different characters. But when I called
the store, I was told that this one is more for collections or for
display only, not much really something you can play with. They have
other wands in individual boxes that are priced from $20 and up that
light up at the tip and makes sounds. Given Jocelyn’s age, I’m
thinking she may still want to play with these. Or I can ask the
mother which she thinks Jocelyn is wishing for. My thoughts and
suggestion is we can contribute in like what we did in previous years
and get the $160 wand collection if this is what Jocelyn wants. But if
she still likes to play with them, then we get her a couple or three
of them in individual boxes. What do you folks think? If we decide to
do this, I can volunteer to go to Barnes & Noble to purchase whatever
we decide.

Joy Stigile also mentioned that she was looking into getting her the
Harry Potter books in Braille since our Jocelyn is a braille reader. I
will double check again what she already has so we do not end up
getting her something she already has.

For those who enjoy shopping for kids and may want to get her clothes
or shoes feel free to do so. Please just let us know in this thread
what you decided to do.

We also asked the mom what’s in her wish list for Christmas. According
to Maria, she thinks Brianna like's Kylie Jenner's make up, the
Holiday collection for Christmas. Do any of you familiar with this
brand? Since Jocelyn is an only child, can we or should we consider
getting her mother a gift?

Here is additional information about Jocelyn to get to know her a bit more:

Our adopted child this year is Jocelyn Riddle-Serrano

9 years old born on February 4, 2007

She is on 2nd grade and she goes to Van Ness Elementary School

They live in Sylmar. Her mother’s name is Brianna Suzanne Riddle. She
is an only child and lives with her mother, grandpa and grandma and
great grandmother.

Her cause of blindness is Optic Nerve Hypoplasia. Optic Nerve
Hypoplasia (ONH) is the under-development or absence of the optic
nerve combined with possible brain and endocrine abnormalities. It is
also known as Septo-Optic Dysplasia or DeMorsier's Syndrome.

Jocelyn’s hobbies are reading Harry Potter books and watching movies.
She is also musically talented, playing the drums and part of the
Academy of Music School for the Blind.

Her mother is a single mom. The committee thought it would be nice to
adopt Jocelyn so we can hopefully help her and her mother as she grows
and they could probably use assistance in finding resources and
information as she gets older.

For those who are participating in our chapter Adopt A child program,
hopefully these information have been helpful. Please let me know if
you have questions. You may call at 818-457-1482, or email back in
this thread. Either I or anyone in the committee will do our best to
answer your questions.

Thank you in advance for your participation.
