Hi, 

Gary touched on one of the major points: not being able to learn correct
spelling and punctuation if you have never read print or learned Braille. I
just think that as learning to read print is a necessary part of a sighted
child's life, so, too, should be learning to read Braille for a blind child.
I do realize that this might not be possible in all cases, though.
