are you referring to the startup entry on the start menu/all programs? I
have discovered before that deleting entries from there doesn't stick -- i
mean if it is in the registry, when I reboot, the original entries will be
generated in the start menu startups. I just ran the microsoft utility to
remove malware and despite a pervasive scan, it found nothing amiss. So I
guess I'll just wait for it to turn up again.
Thanks.

have you looked in the startup folder on your computer. if you go to start
menu, all programs, then start up then if it is listed there then use the
application key or shift f12 then to delete . you also can go to the run
keys in the registry and check if it is there and delete it from there. if
you go to run then type in regedit then press enter down arrow to hkey
current user then right arrow then down arrow to software then right arrow
then down to Microsoft then right arrow then down arrow to windows then
right arrow then down one time to current version then right arrow then down
arrow to run then tab and check if this item is there and if it is then
press delete on the key board. You also need to check under hkey local
machine right arrow then down arrow to software then right arrow then down
arrow to Microsoft then right arrow then down arrow to windows then right
arrow then down arrow one time to current version then right arrow and then
go down to run then tab and check if this item there and delete it.

Subject: [nfbcs] popups
Hi all --
over the past few days something has appeared on my system that brings up
unwanted windows with advertising and other messages. It shows up in the
task manager and I am able to kill it there, but it doesn't appear in
add/remove programs so I don't know how to remove it. I ran a virus scan and
Norton doesn't identify it as malware.
Does anyone know how I can get rid of this thing?
Next time I reboot I am concerned it will be there again.
Thanks.
