[nfbcs] question about mailers

Greetings -- sorry for the cross post, but I need a reply asap.

I am helping a family member move from an old laptop to a new vista laptop 
(she bought it before windows7 before anyone asks), and I just ran a backup 
of her mail which happens to be in outlook express.  I used e-backup to make 
the backup, and I need OE to be installed on her new computer in order for 
the account restore to work properly.   The problem is that the new computer 
uses windows live mail, which is not compatible.
Now, I heard on one of these lists that OE can be downloaded for windows7 
and vista.  I googled and found what looked like what I was looking for, but 
when I opened it it said basically that OE was incompatible and that I 
should use windows live mail, and it proceeded to install that.  (GRRRRRRR)
Furthermore, I thought OE was supposed to be a free download, and this site 
charged a fee.

Is there anyone out there using OE on a vista or windows7 machine? Where did 
you get OE to install?
My family member is anxious as she has a lot of important correspondence via 
email.
Since I did the backup on her old computer, I told her not to read email 
again or I would have to run a new backup -- and besides, that laptop is 
going in for repair today.

Please let me know.  I have her backup on my thumb drive waiting to restore, 
but I can't wintout OE.
