[nfbcs] LinkedIn Question

Hi.

Occasionally, I would like to contact people whose profiles are on LinkedIn.
Supposedly, one only needs to join in order to see someone's full profile
and, hence, see if said person can be contacted directly. However, LinkedIn
takes the liberty of using members' email addresses to send out supposedly
personal invitations to join LinkedIn. But one can tell from the Internet
headers that, in effect, LinkedIn is spoofing these addresses and is, in
effect, spamming from the addressbooks of the LinkedIn members. I have my
junk filters such that all such messages are declared junk. The only way
someone can invite me to LinkedIn is to send a direct message to me *from*
the member directly.

My question is this: if I join LinkedIn in order to see full profiles, is
there a way I can absolutely control what is sent out (or, in my case, *not*
sent out) on my behalf? In other words, I believe that spam, even from one's
friends, is reprehensible and anything or anyone sending it ought to be
ashamed of himself/herself.

Thanks.

Mike Freeman
