I don't have NVDA on my system. It would have to be approved and that is a
big deal.

Hi Suzi.
You tried the Jaws screen refresh Mike suggested, insert-escape, and it
didn't do the trick?  I have similar problems to yours sometimes in terminal
emulation, and the Jaws refresh works a treat to get that darned shark
working properly again.
