[nfbcs] openbook/scanning question

hi,

someone asked me to scan a form that was half typed with headings like name, 
address, email, etc and the rest was hand written.
I used openbook 9 with an epson workforce 545 aio printer.

Would anyone know why the results on the monitor looked great for about 
three seconds then worthless after the processing was complete?
Would purchasing some title of software by adobe help in scanning/converting 
a form to pdf?
