[nfbcs] Setting up a Gmail account to work with Outlook 2013

Has anyone been able to independently set up a gmail account to work with Outlook 2013 or another email client? I have tried several times unsuccessfully and have had trouble with the setup page for forwarding, POP and IMAP access. I have also tried putting an app specific password in Outlook with no success. Tips welcome.
