Hello,

If you really need to absorb this presentation, have the presenter send you
the material in advance. This will give you time to make the presentation
accessible. This means that you will have to put out more effort than the
standard audience member--so what is new.

Subject: [nfbcs] Live Meeting, Adobe Connect, Webex

Greetings:

Most of these online meeting tools are not 100% accessible. In part this is
due to the kind of material that the meeting is meant to convey (e.g., a
picture of visual slide show), but in part the controls are not always
accessible using programs like JAWS or Window-Eyes. Both Adobe Connect and
WebX are problematic with Adobe Connect being somewhat more usable than
WebX.

I suppose one needs to decide what part of the "meeting" needs to be
accessible. If the meeting is mostly a lecture, then once you get the
program working, problem solved. If, on the other hand, a person doesn't
gain anything unless the visual presentations are understood (much like real
life), then other techniques (e.g., a reader) need to be used.

If most of what you want to do can be managed independently, you should
consider getting a reader to help you through the inaccessible parts.

Sorry not to be much clearer than this.

Cordially,

Curtis Chong
