[nfbcs] Getting Rid of the Ribbon or Alternative to Microsoft Office

Is there anyway to completely get rid of the ribbon in Microsoft Office 2007
and later? I have found software that adds an extra tab that has the old
menus, but I have not found anything that completely gets rid of the ribbon.
If this is not possible, are there any alternatives to Microsoft Office? For
various reasons, I do not really want the two alternatives that have already
been discussed on this list.
