Howdy yall:
I’m not sure why we keep changing the subject line, when the topic has remained (virtually) the same for the last week and a half or so…This is confusing when trying to follow the threads. Also, if SEO is a concern of ours, this likely does not help the cause 😊
I think both Brian (B) and Brian (D) have summarized paths forward for the division well.
The president of the division: (1) asked that people contact him off-list with ideas; (2) appreciated the enthusiasm and desirability to improve the division; (3) was open to ideas, but expressed a need to ensure what ever our collective limited bandwidth would be sunk into was logical, productive, and pointed; and (4) encouraged the enthusiasm continue as we move forward.
Brian (D) created a mechanism (which I need to join still) for fostering rapid mobilization and communication for addressing future-state developments. The CS division board monitors this list—the entire board is highly active here. I’m certain if they had concern with this idea, they would have said as such. Also, Brian (D) indicated Brian (B) is aware of this idea and since Brian (D) moved forward with it, and since I know Brian (D) has been a leader in the National Federation of the Blind in various capacities for several years, I can reasonably assume Brian (D) has received a go-ahead. If not, well, a slack channel is a means of communicating like a Facebook group so…I don’t know what the limitations might be…but I’m sure Brian (B) will or would have said something!
Any-who, I’m excited to see all the expressed commitment to volunteering time, energy, and efforts to producing awesome deliverables for the organization. I know I’ll do my part moving forward to make sure this energy keeps going, I hope you will all join me too! For those going to the National Convention, I’ll see you there. For those not, I look forward to your contributions moving forward. We have some really talented people in our organization and the things we can accomplish are endless. As President Riccobono says, together we can transform dreams into reality!
Respectfully,
Michael Ausbun, Accessibility Specialist
Member, National Federation of the Blind of Louisiana
