[NFBCS] Facebook, I am not a robot

Firefox puts a big emphasis on privacy. Perhaps by using it you looked to Facebook like an anonymous user. I'm just guessing. Many events encourage you strongly to sign up for Facebook but don't require it. I have had an account, mostly inactive, for several years, and have not run into that sort of problem. I'm suspicious of them requiring that much information. Be sure that these are requirements and not just strong suggestions.

Hi Curtis. I was using Firefox, and was able to create an account, then I
tried to access my account through the iPhone app. It let me sign up fine,
then it immediately disabled my account for violating its rules. I guess
the violation was signing up, or perhaps signing up while blind--not sure.
It seems possible that, during normal times, a human would review my request
to be part of their exclusive community, but there are no humans there now.
Which is why I wonder if anyone else has been able to sign up since the
lockdown.

I have resisted Facebook for many years myself, but things I want to be part
of seem to be only happening there, so I thought I'd try.
Tracy

Tracy:

What browser are you using with Facebook? I have noticed that oftentimes, if
I am using Internet Explorer, more sites have problems with thinking that I
am a robot than if I approach the site using something like Chrome or the
new Chromium-based Edge.

I myself am still resisting signing up for Facebook<smile>.

Cordially,

Curtis Chong

I recently tried to sign up for Facebook, only because some events I'd like
to hear are only being held there. Facebook is convinced I'm a robot, and I
can't change their minds.

First, they wanted me to record a video, which required me to "position my
face in the circle." I did my best, but it may not have worked well. Then
they wanted me to upload a photo to show I'm human, which I did. Now they
want me to upload my photo ID-my non-driver's license, which smells too
phishy for me.

Has anyone successfully signed up for Facebook recently, since the lockdown
started? If so, how did you do it?

I always knew Facebook was annoying, but this is ridiculous.

Tracy
