[NFBCS] Hotkeys for changing Win 10 audio output

I seem to have spoken too soon. So when the computer auto-locks, JAWS
reverts to a different card.

The current configuration I have is:
1. Laptop sound card
2. Dell U2421HE Monitor /Dock on USB-C
3. Sound Blaster XG6 USB 3 sound card.

And I'm running JAWS 2020 as part of Fusion 2020.

I reverted the Windows Mixer settings back to defaults before trying it
again with the same outcome as above.

Also tried to see what would happen if I unplugged and added back the Sound
Blaster XG6 (which is where I want JAWS to go). Windows properly moved it
over to the Windows Default, but then didn't move it back when the Sound
Blaster came back online.

Hmmm... more troubleshooting may be required. I can at least now fumble my
way with Ins+j, u, o, Enter, down arrow, Enter which seems to reliably put
JAWS back to the laptop's card as it always seems to be the first option
right below Windows Default.

Thanks!

Thanks, that's a good idea. I had set JAWS in the windows Mixer where I
wanted it, but a docking station kept stealing it anyway randomly.

Hopefully this will fully prevent JAWS from being randomly hijacked when
plugging in a different device.

Best,
Charles

Charles:
One way around this would be to change the JAWS Sound Card prior to plugging
in the device. If you look under JAWS Utilities, Sound Cards, you will see
that JAWS is set to use the Default sound card. If you change JAWS to use
your preferred sound card, it should stay on this card, even if you add
another device.
Hope this helps.
Jim

Good morning all,

Does anyone have a good suggestion for getting Windows 10 to switch the
audio output by hotkey?

The problem I have is when plugging in a USB-C audio device or projection
system that doesn't actually support audio but Windows thinks it does then
JAWS is lost to that device. I'm trying to find a non-sighted way of
getting it back.

Googling I've found Near CMD and one or two other apps. But I'm looking for
something that can be done on any PC without having to customize by
installing 3rd party (potentially questionable) apps.

Thanks,

Charles
