[NFBCS] Jaws OCR in Zoom Meetings

Hi Susie,
You're right in that it can be hard to pay attention to both a speaker and
Jaws at the same time. I've found it's easier if I have JAWS and Zoom use
different speakers. Most often I have Zoom use the external speakers and
JAWS use a set of ear buds. Thus I can control the volume independently and
listen to JAWS in just one ear.

With the OCR I'm simply trying to pick up the written words on slide and I
can anticipate what's coming in a discussion or pick up what some times goes
unsaid. For example someone may say "we have these four bullets to discuss
on the next slides" and then they'll just move forward. The Window OCR when
it works is a great way to turn those 4 bullet points into text for JAWS to
read. And as long as you capture it before they change slides JAWS will
remember it until of course you OCR the next slide.

Best,
Charles

I have never tried that because you would miss what is being said on the
call if you were trying to read a slide someone has put up. What Jaws told
me on my last call was the people who had low band width. I had forgotten to
use the layered command to keep Jaws from speaking which is insert+space+s.
Maybe I am not understanding what you are saying.

Subject: [NFBCS] Jaws OCR in Zoom Meetings

Hi all,

In Zoom meetings I find myself frequently using the JAWS layered keys for
window OCR as follows (ins+space, O, W).

What appears to be happening though when OCR resolves the window is that
some text that is behind the window is read in. For example the meeting
information which is typically available when nobody is screen sharing.

My question is, has anyone else run into the same problem with OCR?

And does anyone else have tricks for reading what's on a Zoom Meeting (or
other web conferencing) tool?

Thanks,

Charles
