[NFBCS] JAWS Keeps Locking Up with Spellcheck before Send in Outlook

Wow, I never knew about this alt+shift+l command in JAWS! It's definitely going to be right at the top of the toolbox!

That being said, spell checking in Outlook should work, and I'm not sure I'm ready yet to turn off automatic spell checking before an email is sent. I've had this problem in the past with JAWS or Outlook hanging up when the spell checking dialog comes up, but I'm not seeing it at the moment. I have the same set up except that I'm using Microsoft 365 and not Outlook 2019. My $0.02 is to start by sending in a report to Freedom Scientific.

Nicole:

I do not typically punch F7 to invoke spell check in an email I am about to send, nor do I hve Outlook spell check automatically before sending. Here are my suggestions:

  1. Do not spell check automatically before sending.
  2. To determine if you have an error in your email before sending, try using the ALT+SHIFT+L JAWS command. If JAWS says you don't have a spelling error, you're good to send. If you do have an error, JAWS brings up a list of the spelling errors, and you can press Enter on the word you want to fix.

HTH.

Kind regards,

Curtis Chong

I have Outlook 2019 on Windows 10 64 bit with the latest version of JAWS. I have Outlook set to spellcheck before sending. Sometimes, it works fine, but, more and more often, if there is a spelling error, JAWS stops talking when in the window with the spellchecking-going to the desktop or somewhere else restores speech. Repeatedly pressing escape to exit the spellchecker fixes the problem, but I then often have to run spellchecker before pressing send rather than letting run after pressing send. Has anyone else experienced this?
