Hello Everyone:

First, a bit of introduction.

My name is Jeff Bishop, a NFB member from Arizona and yes, I need to renew here for 2024 which I will do by the end of the day 😊.

I am also the President of Blind Information Technology Specialists (BITS) which is an ACB special interest affiliate of the American Council of the Blind. I promise, no more said n that front. I just wanted you to be fully aware and for me to be fully transparent before I describe the exciting opportunity we have for the blind community.

BITS is starting their fully immersive and exhaustive Office 365 training course on September 9th. It will be led by a professional assistive technology trainer and other AT professionals that will assist throughout the 3-month course. We will cover everything from Windows Basics, Word, Outlook Classic, Excel and PowerPoint, including pivot tables and more! All training will be done over Zoom and classes will be held on Monday evenings. All training material, class recordings, books, handouts, and support are free for the course. The only thing we ask is that each member of the course be a member of BITS. This helps us pay for the technology costs of our sites, Zoom services, storage space and more. All trainers, teaching assistants and technical staff are volunteers, and no money is paid to anyone serving in this opportunity.

If you are at all interested, then please reach out.

You can learn more and express interest in the course at this site:

If you are wanting to join BITS to participate in the course you can use this form:

http://www.joinbits.org/join

Dues are $20 for an annual membership, which, BTW, gives you access to one hour of RIM for free per day as a part of your subscription. Students are less expensive and other rates can be found on our membership form.

Being a member will also allow you to take our upcoming HTML/Web Accessibility course and all future educational opportunities. We are tentatively planning a Google Docs, WordPress, and Python course in the Spring.

If you would like to learn more then you can also write to me personally at jeff at jeffbishop.com<mailto:jeff at jeffbishop.com>.

Thank you everyone and please accept my apology if I have offended anyone with this post. We truly are wanting to serve the community and offer opportunities to educate one another.

Sincerely,

Jeff Bishop
