El Jules Stein Eye Institute de la Universidad de California, Los
Ángeles, está buscando voluntarios para una investigación clínica. El Doctor
Michael B. Gorin
está llevando a cabo un estudio nacional de factores de riesgo genéticos, y
otros
que contribuyen al desarrollo de la degeneración macular Relacionada con la
Edad
(también conocida cómo Maculopatía, una degeneración Relacionada con la 
Edad).
Individuos, o
miembros de su familia pueden ser elegibles para participar en este
estudio observacional. (Esto no es un ensayo clínico de tratamiento), que no
requiere que, las personas viajen a UCLA, pero permite a las personas
participar a través de un sitio de la red, de manera confidencial y segura.
Las personas
serán requeridas a dar una muestra de saliva, o de sangre
(20 ml).  Las fotografías de la retina serán cubiertas por el estudio.

El estudio busca:
    * Las personas desde 49 hasta 65 años de edad que tienen, o han tenido
al menos un
padre con degeneración macular. Los cónyuges o parejas serán incluidas.
    * El padre (s) que tiene degeneración macular relacionada con la edad, o
si tienen
un familiar de primer grado con la enfermedad, (hermanos).
