La Federación Nacional de Ciegos Concederá $50.000 en el 2011.


Baltimore, Maryland (17 de noviembre, 2010): La Federación Nacional deCiegos
ha anunciado hoy que las solicitudes ahora se están aceptando para el
Programa de Premios del Doctor Jacob Bolotin en el 2011. La Federación
Nacional de Ciegos presenta cada año premios de dinero en efectivo a
individuos y organizaciones que han hecho contribuciones excepcionales hacia
la realización de la integración plena de los ciegos en la sociedad en
condición de igualdad.


 El Doctor Jacob Bolotin era un médico ciego que vivió y practicó enChicago
a principios del siglo 20. Lo conocían extensamente y erarespetado en
Chicago, y en el Cercano oeste durante su carrera,que atravesó el período a
partir de 1912 hasta su muerte prematura a laedad de treinta y seis años en
1924. Lo reconocieron particularmente por su
maestría en las enfermedades del corazón y de los pulmones. Bolotin utilizó
sus muchoscontratos cómo orador público para abogar por el empleo de
losciegos y de su integración plena en la sociedad.
El Doctor Marc Maurer, Presidente de la Federación Nacional de Ciegos,dijo:
"El Doctor Jacob Bolotin era un pionero que superó las bajas expectativas y
la discriminación para convertirse en un miembro renombrado de la
