Good morning,

It was brought to my attention that the original email I had sent the other
day contained the wrong date in the subject line. My sincere apologies for
that error.

Hope that you will be able to join us this Thursday, February 26 at 9:00 AM
ET!

Best,

Russ

Hello, Sunrise and Shine Family!

Are we approaching 150 Sunrise and Shine with NFB-NEWSLINE? calls since our
humble beginnings in April of 2020? We might be, I'm going to have to go
back and count them up. Certainly, when we reach that milestone, that will
give us a terrific reason for one of our famous and fun-filled parties! The
topics we've covered over the past six years have been almost too numerous
and varied to name, but one topic we haven't devoted an entire call to is
the hobby of amateur radio. Specifically, what I'm addressing here is: how
in the world can people who are blind or low vision tackle such a complex
and diverse avocation? I'm here to tell you that, we absolutely can and with
far less technical know-how and financial investment than you might imagine.
I'll soon be celebrating my one-year anniversary as a licensed ham and have
made some very good friends within the amateur radio community who also
happen to be blind. Many have spent years in the hobby and certainly know a
great deal more than I do. I still have so much to learn. With this in mind,
I've invited some of my fellow blind hams to join us on Thursday morning.
They will have a great deal of knowledge to add to the lively discussion I
know we will have.

Thanks in advance to the folks who will pop in from the Blind-hams community
and the COURAGE KENNY HANDIHAM Program.

We aren't going to get too deep into the weeds with this Thursdays 'Rise and
Shine topic, so don't worry about the conversation being more than a basic
introduction of what one can enjoy when pursuing this wonderful pastime. As
I had referenced when I hosted an amateur radio workshop at the 2025 NFB of
Florida convention this past October, amateur radio is truly, "the hobby of
a thousand hobbies". I'll explain more about that comment on Thursday.

If you haven't been to one of our calls before, joining us at 9:00 AM for
coffee or tea will give you a chance to find out what you've been missing.
We always take time for welcoming new guest speakers and participants and
for lots of warmth and laughter.

Most of us have become pretty familiar with attending meetings using the
Zoom platform over the past few years and in fact, we've been using Zoom
since we launched Rise and Shine way back on April 16th2020. If you're not
used to using Zoom or if it's still giving you difficulties, don't give up
just yet. You can access the meeting by clicking on he below listed web
link, by using the one tap mobile feature or by dialing the phone number
provided and entering the access code when prompted.

It will be terrific having you join us this Thursday morning, ; we are
always blessed when the room is full of warm smiles like yours, not to
mention thought provoking questions and comments.

The regulars on our call are always welcoming and are thrilled to see new
faces.

See below for the Zoom info. If you have any questions, please feel free to
reach out to me before the call.
