The Florida Library Association’s newest award, the  Maria Chavez-Hernandez 
Libraries Change People’s Lives Award, recognizes an  individual library 
employee or group of employees who have made a  demonstrably positive and big 
difference in the lives of Florida’s library  users. 
The 2009 Maria Chavez-Hernandez Libraries Change  Peoples’ Lives Award has 
been awarded to Mike Gunde, Bureau Chief of the  Braille and Talking Book 
Library.
