I believe bill is correct about this e-mail, but I don't think that means
everyone else is wrong. You can sign your cell phone number up at the
www.ftc.gov/donotcall website, and probably should do so. I have seen this
e-mail making the rounds for at least two years, now. I don't think there
has been or will be any mass-release of cell phone numbers to telemarketers.
However, as I understand it, the phone-spammers are free to call your cell
phone number — either after buying it from a list or by dialing it at random
— if you do not list it on the Do-not-call list. Somebody else out there may
know more about this than I do.
