On the positive side - breakfast, lunch and dinner are included. Including the formal dinners which
would really help out with banquet cost all the way around. There are meeting rooms on ships and
the amount of space available is dependent on the size of the ship, just like a hotel. Many companies
are holding meetings on ships now that even include vendors simply because the costs have come
down so much. Most companies that hold events on a cruise ship look at the ship as a floating hotel
rather than a cruise vacation.

Ships go into international waters, so passports would be needed even if one does not get off on a
port of call. The larger ships would have rooms big enough for
general session. We would need to figure out the overall cost for members. While people pay per
person on a ship instead of per hotel room, we must remember that includes cost of food, which
by the way, also includes room service.

It's definitely going to take some time to look into all the options.

Okay in the name of positivity, I believe the cost might be prohibitive. Guess it's worth looking in to though. We wouldn't have to do hospitality, because that's available all over the ship. There are ships that go out of Ft. Lauderdale as well as Cape Canaveral.

Dear Holly and all,

It is a great idea, but where would the boat leave from and go to.
There is also the cost of the travel to and from the port to consider.
How many vendors and sponsors might you get to come and show their wares?
Will anyone be getting off the boat at any foreign ports of call and need
passports?
Will a large room be needed for general session style meetings or the like?
Will there be any hard cut off date for reservations before the cruise?
Will there be enough members able to afford the trip?
I personally think that to do it as just a fun trip would be the best, but
that the idea of trying to do it as our State Convention has allot of
negatives. Just my two cents.

Do you think we, as a chapter, could do the work it will take to host
a state convention?
