[Nfbf-l] Joyce Hildreth Resigns

Dan and all,

I agree we shouldn't jump the gun and come out firing all guns blazing.
This issue has a high potential of bringing trouble for us so it is very
important to follow the issue closely. Watch this list and keep your ear to
the ground. If action is necessary at some point be ready to move. This
could be one of the most important issues for us here in FL for a long time
to come.

Having said all that I think the most important problem is happening right
now in front of and we don't have long to act. I hope everyone has heard of
the "fiscal cliff." The President and the Congress are trying to come to
terms on such things as taxation, Social Security, Medicare and entitlement
programs. Please let your representatives know how you feel no matter they
be Republican or Democrat. As an example the President is already he might
agree to lower Social Security cost of living increases. This has met with
lot's of criticism including demonstrations in D.C. That is only the tip of
the iceburg.

Thanks,
Jim Ellsworth

Although I have trepidations about this whoe thing - see my previous post -
but, they have made their move, and I think we need to see how this plays
out. If we jump on McKinley's selection before she even gets her parking
space assigned, so to speak, it could look bad us, especially if she is only
there for a short time or actually does a great job.

I might consider sending something out lamenting the fact that they did not
put more effort into finding a qualified blind person to serve in Joyce's
place. However, being as McKinley is, as of right now, in interim director,
we don't want to come on too strongly against her.

I would like to see us write letters to Scott letting him know that this is
not in the best interest of our blind community.
