[Nfbf-l] No Violence Necessary

Good evening everyone,

We were recently reminded that thieves can be very crafty when it comes
to being able to steal from people. For about three weeks we had an
individual who was living out on the street staying with us. Since we had
known her for several years and was assured by a cab driver that also knows
her we decided to let her stay with us to help her get on her feet. Since
she was a care giver she was a big help in that she helped us do lots of
cleaning, and we enjoyed her cooking. She made delicious pancakes!

All went well until one morning Mary discovered some cash missing from
one of our wallets. Wanting to give her the benefit of a doubt we searched
for the missing cash but it didn't turn up. That evening we got more cash
from the ATM. Since she needed money for transportation I gave the bulk of
it to Mary so she could hide it. The rest I left in my wallet as bate. The
next morning when I came in from taking the dog out the cash was gone. Since
this happened a second time I demanded that the woman and I search the
drawer where the wallet was kept. After hearing a few choice words from her
and her appearing to search frantically through the drawer the cash seemed
to appear out of nowhere. I returned it to my wallet and went downstairs to
eat my brunch. Upon returning to my room and checking the wallet again I
discovered that the cash was missing for the second time. By now it was all
too clear what was going on. Before that day was over that lady was removed
from our apartment complex by the San Antonio police. Money stopped
disappearing after she left.

That lady had it good. We're amazed that one would take advantage of
someone's hospitality including an air conditioned room and a bed to sleep
in as well as would-be friends that were willing to help her get the needed
services she needed such as Social Security, Foodstamps, etc for a patio in
the hot south Texas sun at her son's place. If her son didn't want her
staying with him we could understand why.

This individual learned the hard way that blind people aren't stupid and
will do whatever is necessary to protect themselves and their belongings.
Fortunately this matter was resolved in a non-violent manner. Praise God
that there are states willing to grant blind people the right to carry guns.
We can only hope that no one ever has to use one to protect themselves or
their property. All the best.

Peter Donahue

Kathy & Willie:

It is what it is. You are what you are. Contemplate it.

My comments/opinions were subject oriented: your comments are
personally oriented. That's your issue, not mine.

Have a great evening.

          Bob Clark
